The Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART Lens Review

What can I say! The Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART is near perfection. I only say near because of one point that I will go through later in the article.

I am going to touch on a few points regarding weight, picture quality, bokeh, design, and features based from my personal experience with the lens for about 1 year now.

First the weight, the sigma 24mm f1.4 ART lens weighs 655g, now compare that to my Sony A7iii which I would say is fairly light which weighs 650g, it does add a big of weight to the whole camera, but I consider it the same weight ratio because I am using two hands versus one.

For the design? It has a serrated texture for the grip and the focus ring and a metal body, it definitely doesn’t feel as cheap as a 50mm f1.8 does. If you get the lens hood, it has a smooth rubber around the base, I catch myself running my fingers across it because I like the feeling. On the side of the lens there is the Auto Focus/Manual switch.

For picture quality I can say the 1.4 sharpness is incredibly stunning, I haven’t had any complaint with the corners getting lower quality noise, but I have heard of some people having issues. I have to say the Bokeh on this beast is so beautiful, it’s very creamy, does that just justify the price? I would say so but that is purely subjective on your funds and the amount of bokeh you prefer.

The one downside to this amazing lens, is the fact it isn’t waterproof. Waterproofed lenses usually come with a higher price and you really can’t complain when Sigma most of the time has a huge price drop from other big-name brands yet the quality in my opinion is just as superb.

To sum it up the Sigma 24mm f1.4 ART is an absolute buy if you like wide angle photographs that are brilliantly sharp, and the build quality is absolutely echelon as you come to expect from the Sigma Art series.
